Finals of Europe's ninth 3D audio production competition in Ambisonics for students

The Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, together with the VDT and ORF musikprotokoll, is once again hosting the 3D Competition for students, now for the ninth time in a row! With 41 submissions from students from 14 countries, it has established itself as a truly international competition recognized across three continents.

The finalists will present their productions on Thursday, November 13, starting at 3:30 p.m. as part of the Tonmeistertagung. The pieces will be presented in R15 via an immersive speaker system. The winners will be announced and the prizes awarded, accompanied by comments from the jury. For those who cannot get a seat in R15 or are not in Düsseldorf, the event can also be followed live on the Internet.

The competition has three categories of 3D productions: Contemporary Music/Computer Music in Category 1, Documentation/Soundscapes in Category 2, and Music Recording/Studio Production in Category 3. Three pieces have been nominated in each category, which can be listened to in advance on the competition website in binaural sound and with head tracking.
