Virtual studio monitoring of msm Studios Berlin via headphones
Workshop using the SONY Virtual Mixing Environment (VME)

Our member Stefan Bock is offering a workshop on SONY’s Virtual Mixing Environment technology at msm studios Berlin on March 3, 2026. The event is organized by SMM Studiotechnik in cooperation with Sony.

The focus of the workshop is the creation of an individual hearing profile that enables the simulation of a real studio monitoring environment over headphones. The reference environment is the msm Mastering Studio in Berlin, whose control room monitoring setup will be captured during the workshop and personalized for each participant.

After an introduction to the technical fundamentals, all participants will undergo a personal VME measurement in an immersive control room environment. A direct comparison between loudspeaker and headphone playback using the individual profile allows for a practical evaluation of the technology.

The created hearing profile can then be used beyond the workshop with a 7-day trial license—either in the participant’s own studio or in a mobile setup. This makes it possible to further test the simulated monitoring environment of the msm mastering studio in one’s own working context.

The workshop lasts four hours.
