Tips for 2 factor authentification

Every VDT member as well as every other user of MyVDT can protect their access with two-factor authentication. This is an important precaution against potential hacking attacks. You can set this up in MyVDT in your profile in the ‘Login & Roles’ section.

Take a look at this video. (with comments in german language)

When setting up two-factor authentication in MyVDT, a secret is generated as text or a QR code, which is required for setup in the app. You should keep the secret or QR code somewhere safe – preferably not on your computer or mobile phone – so that you can set up two-factor authentication on a new or additional device at any time.

During setup, the administration interface provides a link to a tool that can be used to generate a QR code from the secret. Some TOTP apps only allow setup via the QR code. You can also save the tool on your computer. It also works locally without an internet connection. Here is the link.
