41 Submissions from 14 Countries
The call for entries for the ninth 3D competition in Ambisonics for students has closed. The judges are currently evaluating the many submissions. A total of 41 students and student teams from 14 countries have submitted entries in the three categories. Unsurprisingly, German and Austrian students are well represented with seven submissions each, but an equal number came from Canada. The remaining students come from CN, EE, FI, GR, IT, LT, NL, NO, PL, UK, and the USA. The competition thus presents itself as a truly international competition recognized across three continents.
The quality of the entries is very high, and many of the submissions are truly exceptional. It is becoming more difficult every year to select the three best entries. The suspense lasts until the very end! The nominees in category 1 will be announced at the end of September, followed by categories 2 and 3 in October.
This year, the award ceremony will take place on November 13 at 3:30 p.m., once again as part of the Tonmeistertagung. You can attend in person in Düsseldorf or watch live on the internet.
Sponsors of the last Competition (2024)
IEM Graz together with the ORF musikprotokoll and the VDT
The Competition is a cooperation of the Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik der Kunstuniversität Graz (IEM) and Verband Deutscher Tonmeister (VDT), Sounding Future, and this year again with the ORF musikprotokoll.
The contribution format is 5th order Ambisonics as there are many free production tools available and no licence fees have to be paid. Contributing to the Competition is an important step for the students into the professional world of pro audio. At the same time there are attractive prizes for the winners waiting.
