At tmt33, it was clear to see how the use of open source software is becoming more widespread in pro audio productions. Not only is it ideal for student and low-budget projects because it is available free of charge, but it also scores points for its open-source concept. This offers planning security and independence from corporate policy decisions.

At the 2025 general meeting, the proposal made by Sven Thielen, topic chair of the tmt33 topic “Open Source,” was welcomed that the VDT make more continuous efforts to use open source for audio. We want to set up a working group for this purpose. Who is interested in participating, contributing ideas, and exchanging ideas with colleagues?
